Quote If you see me in a fight with a bear, pray for the bear endquote.
I have no idea if you’re a Black Mamba’s fan, but even if you’re not a basketball fan, even if you don’t like sports at all, i can tell you one thing for sure: if you wanna be successful doing anythinhg in this world, you should study Kobe Bryant and his approach to anything he sets his mind to.
You might love him or you might hate him, but by now I’m sure you’ve heard about mamba mentality before. Probabily, you’ve had the pleasure of watching it unfold live on TV many times. If you’re really lucky, you might have even seen it in person. I know i watched a thousand times. I craved for it almost everyday since Kobe entered the NBA in the late 90s.
We all heard the stories. Most guys practice twice a day in the offseason? Kobe trains four times a day. Kobe misses 5 free throws in a game in a finals game? He’s back in the gym at 6am practicing free throws. Kobe calls a trainer with the USA team at 2am to schedule a practice at 5? When the trainer gets there at 4.30, Kobe is already in a full sweat shooting by himself.
But how exactily can we define “Mamba Mentality” anyway?
These are the 5 pillars to his legendary mindset – passion, obsession, relentlessness, resiliency, and fearlessness.
“To sum up what Mamba Mentality is, it means to be able to constantly try to be the best version of yourself,” Bryant said.
“That is what the Mentality is,” he added. “It’s a constant quest to try to be better today than you were yesterday.”
And that is why we all have so much to learn from Kobe Bryant, because his example shows us what you can accomplish when you set your mind to. And, moreover, you’re able to live up to your ambitions with actions more so than words.
Everything Kobe achieved came from the work he put in – countless hours of repetition, routine and practice. His insatiable drive to be the best he could be, to improve day after day, practice after practice, try after try, failure after failure, success after success, that’s what set him apart.
So now you know. Never fear, Kobe Bryant explains it himself.
If you challenge yourself each and every single day, when you come face to face with the bear, he should be the one running for his life.
