Eleven Campaign is delighted to announce that the organisation, in partnership with UEFA Foundation for Children, will be part of the Match for Solidarity on 21st April 2018 in Geneva, Switzerland.
As an expression of unity and in recognition of the importance of sports in society, UEFA and the United Nations are joining forces this year hosting a solidarity game with funds raised for humanitarian and development projects, featuring some of the biggest football stars. The “Match for Solidarity” is aimed at promoting peace, human rights and well-being in the world, through the Sustainable Development Goals set out by the UN. The match and its mission fall in lockstep with the tenets of the Eleven Campaign, which is poised to film the zenith of its flagship documentary ELEVEN on this momentous occasion in Geneva.
ELEVEN is an eponymous feature-length documentary profiling 11 children from 11 corners of the globe, and how football impacts their daily lives and character development. The film follows each of the Eleven kids as they prepare to play the biggest game of their lives. It’s very exciting and positively challenging as they haven’t met the other 10 teammates before, and most of them don’t speak the same single language. The stage is now set for these eleven young heroes to finally meet in person and train in Geneva, forming a team to play the “Eleven Rise As One” Game in front of thousands of spectators. Only days after becoming acquainted, the Eleven squad will unite to knock down communication barriers, demonstrate cohesion, and celebrate diversity in this pinnacle moment of the ELEVEN documentary.
The “Eleven Rise As One” exhibition match will be played at 15.00 CET at the Stade de Genève, an hour before some of football’s greatest legends take the field in the ‘Match for Solidarity’.
